Dominion Diaries Spotlight: Rosemary Farmer

Rosemary Thomas Farmer was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 3, 1940 but was raised in Massachusetts and Maine. Rosemary met and married her husband of 65 years, Melvin, while he was a student of Chemistry at Harvard University. Melvin later received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1964 from the University of Illinois. Together, Rosemary and Melvin raised their four children, Craig, Shelley, Paul and Marcia, while Melvin worked for Union Carbide in various Asian cities, including Bangkok, Jakarta, Seoul and Singapore. While Melvin helped build research patterns and create research centers, Rosemary was a music teacher.

Upon retirement, Rosemary and Melvin returned to the United States, eventually settling in Johnson City, Tennessee to be close to family. Very proud of her children, Rosemary’s family has grown from four children to fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Rosemary states that she is overwhelmed by the love and prayers that have been extended to her and her family during her time at Dominion Senior Living of Johnson City, especially after the passing of her husband. She says that she is very blessed and grateful for her family and her many good memories throughout her years.
